Calcasieu River Dredged Material Management Plan

Client: USACE, New Orleans District

Completion Date: Ongoing

The objective of this project is to develop a dredged material management plan (DMMP) for the disposal of dredged material from the routine maintenance of the Calcasieu River and Pass.  This DMMP will investigate alternatives for managing dredged material for the next 20 years, including confined disposal, aquatic (open water or ocean) disposal, beach renourishment, and within banks disposal.  Additionally, beneficial uses for the dredged material, as well as the non-dredging alternative, will be considered.  GEC has lead the development, review, and screening of alternatives through the organization of an interagency team of scientists from Federal and state resource agencies.  The end product of the project will be a DMMP report, including environmental documentation compliant with NEPA; a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act Report; an engineering appendix including a baseline cost estimate; a real estate plan; and other supporting appendices.
