Phase II of the Baton Rouge Levee Bike Path project is a continuation of the Phase I Bike Path, which was previously designed by GEC. Phase II will begin where Phase I ended, at Skip Bertman Drive and River Road. Phase II will include two new River Road access ramps, one at Brightside and another at Farr Park. This new path will be a 10 foot wide path, spanning 2.11 miles atop the Mississippi River Levee. Phase II will end at the bottom of the River Road Access Ramp at Farr Park. GEC is also currently designing a new bike path through Farr Park for BREC. These two Bike Paths will adjoin each other with a River Road Crossing. When both bike path projects are complete, bicycle riders will be able to ride on the levee bike path from Farr Park, south of LSU, to downtown Baton Rouge. The Levee Bike path was designed in coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, and the Department of Public Works.
