Verdi Adam, P.E.
President

Mr. Adam has been active in the technical as well as administrative aspects of the firm since joining GEC in 1987. He received his M.S. in civil engineering in 1954 and has been involved in all phases of highway and transportation engineering, holding positions at LDOTD as Chief Engineer of the Office of Highways, Director of Construction and Maintenance Division, and Materials and Research Engineer. He is a recognized expert in asphalt road construction.

Stephen Spohrer, P.E.
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Spohrer joined GEC in October 2004 in the role of Construction Manager, assigned to the company’s Louisiana TIMED Manager’s project.  In his position as Deputy Director, Construction he managed the construction engineering and inspection efforts on several billion dollars worth of road and bridge construction, including the reconstruction of the H. P. Long Bridge in New Orleans and the John James Audubon Bridge in the St. Francisville area.  He was promoted to Vice President in 2007.  Steve has over 40 years of experience in corporate engineering and construction management operations. His expertise is key to the continued strategic growth of GEC.

As Chief Operating Officer, Steve manages the day-to-day business affairs of the corporation which includes quality, timeliness, cost, marketing, and long-term strategic growth. 

He continues to manage the duties associated with his role at LTM as Deputy Director, Construction.

Steve is a licensed professional engineer in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, and Florida.   He received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University.

Ara Arman, P.E.
Executive Vice President

Mr. Arman has an extensive professional background, with over 45 years of experience in the field of civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. He is a member and officer of many national and international professional and honorary engineering organizations. Upon graduation from the University of Texas he worked for the LDOTD as District Laboratory Engineer and then as Head Geotechnical Engineer. He joined the Department of Civil Engineering faculty of LSU where he served as professor, department chair and associate dean of the College of Engineering and Director of Louisiana Transportation Research Center (LSU). Before joining GEC, he served as Vice President of Woodward Clyde Consultants and URS.

Philip K. Meyers, P.E.
Executive Vice President

 

 

Philip K. Meyers is Executive Vice President and Engineering Manager for GEC. Mr. Meyers has been employed with GEC since 1987. Mr. Meyers received his B.S. in civil engineering from Louisiana State University in 1976. Mr. Meyers is a trained structural engineer and specialized in bridge design.

Mr. Meyers recently completed a 7 year assignment as the Deputy Director of Project Development for the Louisiana TIMED Managers (LTM). Mr. Meyers was responsible for the management of all pre-construction activities for this $5.2 billion transportation infrastructure development of major highways, roads and bridges for the State of Louisiana. Mr. Meyers' responsibilities include the management of environmental permitting and mitigation, design oversight, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and construction contract preparation.

R. Scott Knaus, GISP
Vice President - Planning Division

Mr. Knaus leads the Planning Division at GEC.  He has been with GEC since 1996 and has over 20 years experience directing planning studies for a variety of clients nationwide.  Previously Mr. Knaus has served as an Environmental Quality Specialist for LA DEQ, an Ecologist and Natural Resources Specialist at Geo-Marine, and GIS Analyst, Sr. Project Manager and GIS Program Director at GEC.  He is working with GEC's Economics, Environmental Sciences and Engineering and GIS departments to expand into new markets and service areas.  Mr. Knaus is a Certified GIS Professional with work experience in over 25 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Lynne M. Richard, CPA
Chief Financial Officer/Vice President

Ms. Richard has more than 30 years of experience and a proven track record of success in the accounting field.  Ms. Richard's current responsibilities include the supervision of the accounting group and management of GEC’s financial affairs. She received her B.S. in accounting from Southeastern Louisiana University.  Before joining GEC, she served as Controller with an engineering firm and consultant with a CPA firm.

Nancy B. Moeller
Vice President - Human Resources

Ms. Moeller joined GEC in 2000 and has over 30 years experience in the office management setting with 17 years of specialized experience in the area of Human Resources. Ms. Moeller's current responsibilities include the coordination of all employment hiring procedures including recruitment, conducting interviews for vacant positions and the preparation of all new hire paperwork. Ms. Moeller coordinates supervisor training and maintains confidential personnel records and performance appraisals for all employees. Ms. Moeller is responsible for the development of job descriptions and the management of company health benefits. In addition, Ms. Moeller is responsible for GEC’s compliance with I-9, EEO, Affirmative Action, and FMLA regulations.

Bradley N. Whiddon
Information Systems Manager

Mr. Whiddon has over 10 years of experience including but not limited to desktop support, server management, network design, implementation and administration, design, analysis, and project management of wireless, copper, fiber, and hybrid networks.  Prior to joining GEC, Mr. Whiddon performed network design, installations and support for state and federal agencies, law enforcement, private businesses and educational institutions.  These networks are currently being used by various agencies across the United States, in applications including: Homeland Security Surveillance, VoIP communications, Law Enforcement data including intranet and internet, and facility access control.  Mr. Whiddon is responsible for maintenance, operation, network design, and upgrades of all Information Systems at GEC.
