With 40 years of experience in civil and environmental related fields, Bijan Sharafkhani, P.E. joined GEC as Vice President of our Environmental Industrial Division. Mr. Sharafkhani served in various managerial and technical capacities in solid waste, hazardous waste, remediation, Small Business Assistance, Clean Water State Revolving Loan and Nonpoint Source Pollution programs with Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) for more than 33 years.
While at LDEQ, Mr. Sharafkhani served as Confidential Advisor to the Secretary of LDEQ and advised on policy decisions, permitting, enforcement, regulatory and technical issues, legislative matters, and on short and long term planning. Prior to LDEQ, he also held engineering positions with Woodward Clyde Consultants and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. He is a former board member and chair of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. He is a member of the Louisiana Engineering Society, Life time member of American Society of Civil Engineers, and currently serves as the Vice Chair of Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Central, Louisiana.
Mr. Sharafkhani is a licensed Professional Civil and Environmental Engineer in Louisiana and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of New Orleans.
